Perfect Pear cocktail

I’ve a bottle of white port in fridge and as much as I love a white Port & tonic tonight I’m craving something richer. So a bit of googling later and I find this page of Port cocktail recipes.

Immediately the Perfect Pair catches my eye and fortunately I have a bottle of Tawny Port waiting to be open and within minutes I’m able to mix one:

• 1 1/2 oz Tawny Port
• 1oz Pear Eau de Vie
• 1/4 simple syrup
• stir all ingredients with ice and strain to serve

And soon I’m enjoying it

  
And what a cocktail!

Sweet ( but not too sweet, just nicely so) , rich, complex, deep and very, very moreish this is a drink I’ll definitely return to.

Trio D’Vie

I like beer and I like Eau de Vie so when offered the two combined I couldn’t resist trying it.

Lunch was at and the beer on offer was brewed by Brasserie De La Somme and called Trio D’Vie . You can see it on this page where it is described as:

“A special beer in exclusivity: it is full-bodied, it swings… As its name indicates, it is subtly flavoured with the 3 waters of life! (Cognac, Calvados and Poiré). It is a triple triple amber beer”

A very rough translation!

The beer was pretty strong at 7.7% but was light and refreshing to drink. There was a definite fruit and spirit taste to the drink and the flavours combined nicely.
